Our Story

A local favorite since 1981

Owned and Operated by founder Charlie McMullen and his wife Dana, Blockhouse has been Greenville’s favorite restaurant and oyster bar for over four decades. Since opening its doors on Augusta Street in 1981, the establishment has stayed true to the same goal: to serve the finest quality food available in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. From the raw oysters to the aged choice meats to the hand-cut steaks, all of the food is made from scratch with fresh, local ingredients. All meals are prepared in-house so if it takes a little longer for to prepare your meal, don’t worry, you know you’re only getting the best.

What makes Blockhouse special?

“We hand-pat our burgers. All our soups are made from scratch, using fresh seafood or beef or chicken. We age all our choice meats in house and hand-cut all our steaks. Nothing is ever frozen or prepackaged. At Blockhouse, expect only the freshest and best ingredients Greenville has to offer.
